If you are looking for a fun outdoor activity for your kids this summer, give them some paint brushes and some homemade sidewalk paint. It is very inexpensive and easy to make.
For sidewalk paint you need:

- Food coloring
- Small containers for paint
You can store your sidewalk paint in any size container. What’s great about this recipe is that you can make as small or large quantity as you want. I had some small condiment cups with lids that worked great to make a small amount of several different colors.
To make sidewalk paint all you have to do is make a mixture of half cornstarch, and half water. You can add a little more water if it is too thick. Stir until cornstarch is mixed in really well and add a few drops of food coloring.
Your kids will have fun painting with their new sidewalk paint. You can make it for pennies and mix some up in a hurry when your kids need something to do. Give them a variety of paint brushes to paint with. My boys had some small sponges shaped like dinosaurs that made great “stamps” on the sidewalk. They can use the paint to draw roads for their cars, or whatever their imagination dreams up.
Note: This paint is non-toxic and bio-degradable. Washes off with the garden hose. Fun!
